Join Richard Gosse of Cox & Palmer (St. John’s) for an overview of processes and practical considerations of the Mechanic’s Lien Act and the introduction of prompt payment legislation outside the Province: a relatively recent phenomenon compelling timely payment across the supply chain of amounts due and mandatory arbitration of disputed amounts.

Mark Romoff, President and CEO with the Canadian Council of Public Private Partnerships will provide an overview of Public Private Partnerships (P3’s). With an increasing reliance of governments using P3 models for Infrastructure initiatives it is important for stakeholders to understand the various models and be prepared for this changing landscape. Mark will cover; How do P3’s work, Why use P3’s, myths and facts for some common questions and misconceptions about P3s

Navigating Muddy Waters…Dealing with Employees and Mental Health 10:30 am – 11:15
Sharon Horan, Fit for Work – Statistics on mental illness in the workplace are increasing – this is a workplace challenge that cannot be ignored. This presentation will provide the audience of employer representatives with information regarding recognition of workplace mental illness, and will provide suggestions for how employers can demonstrate awareness and compassion, yet not overstep boundaries of privacy. The overview will also provide strategies that employers can use to gradually integrate workplace mental wellness strategies into their health, safety and disability management practices, including promotion of mental wellness and the use of accommodations when needed

Presenter: Jeff B. Jensen, MUELLER Water Products: A prospective discussion focused on common valve standards used in the design of water distribution systems. Flow control valves found in the water distribution system are vital assets which are manufactured in compliance with various third party published construction and municipal design standards. The proposed presentation will focus on the evolution of resilient wedge gate valves including material type, test pressures, installation aiding features, access boxes/vaults and integral restraint systems now provided by valve manufactures. This paper is focused towards the Heavy Civil of NL Water & Sewer Members.

Eric Landry, P.Eng. will discuss the benefits of high performance polypropylene resin pipe and how it will allow municipalities and owners to maximize their return on investment due to prolonged design service life. “The presentation will feature the benefits of high-performance polypropylene resin pipe and how it will allow municipalities and owners to maximize their return on investment due to prolonged design service life. It will also include the installation best practice for storm, sanitary and sliplining applications.”
